concert at Pond Square Chapel
Congratulations to all our students on their committed performances last week! It was amazing to finally welcome a large enthusiastic audience to a con spirito charity concert once again.
Everyone enjoyed the imaginative introductions given by a member of each chamber group. The wide-ranging programme included two exciting works featuring two cellos: Schubert's string quintet and Arensky's quartet. We heard Mozart's joyful oboe quartet alongside a wistful and romantic 'Valse Russe' by Bridge; a storytelling minuet and trio by Haydn; and a fun piano trio arrangement of the famous Russian song 'Black Eyes'. We also witnessed wonderful creativity with our newest students demonstrating a developed improvisation which painted an atmospheric picture of a mysterious walk on the moors.
Two charities chosen by the students will benefit from the generous donations of £405: NNLS Drop In for Asylum Seekers and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Well done to all our performers!
